This is a pictograph, an ancient painting on rock, not a petroglyph which is carved into the rock. We were drawn to Heuco Tanks State Park with the promise of beautiful pictographs. We left very disappointed. There were very few, mostly faded. There was also extensive graffiti, sacrilegious scribblings over many. This was the only pic worthwhile.
