The interpretation of this petroglyh is of a bighorn sheep stuck with arrows. Were they thanking the gods for a propitious hunt or were they petitioning for success for upcomings?
I’ve seen similar glyphs near the Moab area but they had a head. There may be a faint outline of a head but I can’t quite tell.
About 45 minutes north of Alamogordo New Mexico lies Petroglyph National Monument. It’s home to over 20,000 petroglyphs. This, it is believed, is a glyph of roadrunner with a snake in its mouth.
Our last night at Whitesands was cloudless changing the character of the sunset thus the low band of orange on the horizon and the orange sand. It did provide a very clear view of the rising moon.
