Golden Temple Sanctum

The Sanctum is the holy of holies at the Golden Temple. It is made of marble and plated with real gold.  It’s the place where the holy book is read/chanted. The reading is lyrical engaging the soul unlike a dry recitation of words. Though I understood not a word, I was carried along by the rhythm of the chant. The water around the Sanctum is called the pool of nectar. I like the implication that the pool is sustenance for the soul. Unfortunately, photos are forbidden in the Sanctum so all I have of the interior is fading memories to recall the experience.
