Avenue of the Dead

View Down Avenue of the Dead

The Aztecs were a people seemingly obsessed with death so much so they engaged in ritualized human sacrifice and this long straight road bordered by beautiful structures is called the Avenue of the Dead. This magnificent view is from the Moon Temple. The tall pyramid to the left is the massive Sun Temple. I never learned the names of the many little buildings along the way each awe-inspiring in its own right.  At its peak, this city was home to 125,000 people.
