Speaking in Colors

Puma Painting

This Aztec wall painting of a Puma (aka Mountain Lion) is near the Sun Pyramid along the Avenue of the dead under a protected covering to help it resist slow deterioration by the intense scrutiny of the Mexican sun. Was Puma a deity requiring worship or a guardian protecting the people or someone’s idea of beauty? Whatever the reason for its existence, it is communication from an ancient people. Did they expect it to last for 1000 years?  I wish I had a Rosetta Stone to understand the meaning encoded in the colors? I wish I had a Rosetta Stone that would allow me to peer into the mind of the ancients and understand their long lost wisdom.
