Monochrome Monday: Volubilis

Volubilis

Volubilis

Volubilis seems to be in the middle of nowhere. We didn’t see any water nearby, didn’t see any place game might forage, didn’t see much in the form of natural shade for protection from the intense sun. We visited in October and found the sun to be intense. I can’t imagine being there at the peak of summer.

Despite the heat, we enjoyed our walk, enjoyed imagining the people in who’s dusty footprints we walked, enjoyed imagining the voices of children at play, enjoyed imagining the artists creating the many mosaics, enjoyed the massive arched doorways.
