This is the last day of the year per the Gregorian calendar. If I ruled the world, the last day of the year would fall on the shortest day of the year but I don’t rule the world so don’t get to make those decisions. Rome did once rule the known world (known meaning as far as the White man can see ignoring the thriving civilizations of brown peoples) but that was long ago.
This next series of pictures were taken at the Volubilis ruins in Morocco. I was there in the middle of the day with a glaring sun, a situation that makes for less than interesting pictures. So, I did some playing in post processing and created this version of the pillars along the main road of the city. The tonality reminds me of the Elysian fields clips from the movie Gladiator.
