Monochrome Monday: Rose

Monochrome Rose

Monochrome Rose

A rose is beautiful whether it is in vivid color or drained of color in monochrome. The beauty is in its shape, the texture, the delicacy of the petals emerging from a stem covered in blood letting thorns. There is also beauty in its scent but that cannot be captured with modern cameras.

The original photo was slight out of focus, the result of trying to snap a photo too close for the camera to autofocus. Using PhotoShop, after draining out the color, I gave the flower an impressionism mystique, one that rendered the lack of focus irrelevant.
