For Buddhist’s, the Bodhi Tree is one of the most sacred artifacts on the planet. It is the place where the Buddha found enlightenment. For many, it is a source of inspiration. The trunk of the tree is surrounded by a fence keeping the people from possibly loving it to death. Picking leaves is prohibited though collecting the fallen leaves is permitted. I have seen people diving on them as soon as they hit the ground. I was able to get a few myself. Though, unlike the devout who view them as imbued with power, I view them as a symbol that I visited this sacred place.
