The Dambulla Pilgrims

The people in white are Buddhists on their way to honor The Buddha at the Dambulla cave temple in Sri Lanka. It has been a sacred pilgrimage site for 22 centuries. The caves contain 157 statues of the revered founder of their religion in various poses. This is very different from Islam where any representation of The Prophet is considered sacrilegious or in Christianity where the primary depiction of The Christ is crucified on the cross.
