Trump built a tower in Chicago named after himself that I find pleasing architecturally in a modern architecture way but then added his own name in 20 foot tall letters. According to Mayor Emanuel this is an architecturally tasteful building scarred by an architecturally tasteless sign. In this case I agree with the mayor. He has initiated a study on how to alter the rules to avert similar signage monstrosities in the future. Let’s hope he succeeds. The beauty of the Chicago skyscrapers should not scarred because someone with an oversized ego feels a need to see his name emblazoned across the sky.
