Monochrome Monday: They Counted The Unborn

The Unborn Child

The Unborn Child

My main motivation for visiting New York City was to see the 9/11 memorial. I wanted to see the place that was transformed from mere space into sacred space when the blood of almost 3000 people was spilled in the most horrific episode of non-domestic terrorism to take place on American soil. I didn’t expect to see the term ‘unborn child’ amongst the names. I did a little research and found out the term ‘unborn child’ is used 11 times on the memorial. In a society that tends to treat the unborn as non people, they were recorded with the murdered.
