I have long been a fan of the cream colored flowers that bloom from the single stalk of a yucca plant. That single stalk is a spike, a cylindrical spear with a point that can easily impale someone falling off a horse. The Yucca was a widely used plant in the Southwest US and Mexico including the making of masato, an ancient alcohol based drink.
