Lone Monk

There were a few Buddhist monks at Angkor Wat…not as many as I would expected for such an important Buddhist site. I expected to see dozens but saw a handful at most. This young monk sat near a statue of the Buddha. It’s just over his left shoulder. He talked to people and prayed with people for which he received a donation.

This was another instance in which I was multilingual. I would have like to learn his story. Where was he from? What inspired him to become a monk?
