Quiet Before The Storm

Michigan Avenue

Michigan Avenue

I took this picture of Michigan Avenue on Christmas Eve 2015. I like the flags moving in the gentle breeze.  Soon this street would lose it’s tranquility. If a few moments, Michigan Ave would experience the winds of protest.

People were marching in the streets protesting against the mayor, the police, and police involved violence in the black community. Thankfully, the storm of violence was kept at bay as the people marched peacefully.

On a side note, there is a point etiquette in this picture that few would recognize. That etiquette is that, when hung with other flags, the US flag is to be the furthest East or North. In these groupings, the US flag is the furthest North.
