Monochrome Monday: Delicate Arch by Moonlight

Delicate Arch by Moonlight

I have been to Delicate Arch a number of times but only once at night. As luck would have it, this one time coincided with a full moon (and the week in which my wife and I married). The two of us hung out well past sunset to capture the arch by full moon light. The overcast sky made it tough to get any decent shots. Here the moon peaked through the clouds creating the opportunity for my shot.

This place, the whole of the greater Moab area for that matter, has a deep attraction for me that I can only describe as a spiritual connection. It was that way since my first visit when I woke in the morning and crawled out of my tent to see the cornucopia of mesmerizing rock formations against a dazzling blue sky. There are times in my life when was in emotional turmoil, an emotional slump and the only cure was to visit this land and let the rock heal me.
