Buddha Sleeps

The only reason I wore long pants on my first day in Cambodia was so I could enter the temple sanctuary at Angkor Wat. It was quite the challenge because both heat and humidity were hovering around 100. 100% Humidity. 100 Deg F (38C). We reached the sanctuary a couple hours of exploring the ancient temple. We were hot and sweaty. My movements had become slow and were punctuated with frequent rests.

Our reward was to come upon this Buddha, a sleeping Buddha. I have only seen two other Buddha’s in this position. One was the massive golden Buddha at Wat Pho in Thailand. The other was a Buddha that is reputed to be a dead Buddha at Polonnaruwa in Sri Lanka.
