No trip to the farm is complete without enjoying a freshly picked coconut. The water cools as it trickles down the throat and the flesh is tasty. They are harvested the old fashioned way. A boy climbs up a tree with a machete and chops them from the tree. The land on the ground with a great big thump.
The boy climbing this tree is known as Nono. It’s not his real name. In fact, it seems that everyone in the Philippines goes by a nick name. While visiting, I was the only one that referred to my wife by her name instead of her nick name. His climbing ability is amazing.
If I attempted to make the climb I would probably land with the same big thump as the coconuts.
