She wasn’t actually playing but the scene did seem to be the fields of the Lord. Being this was near Jaipur India, that lord would have been one of the Hindu gods and not the God of the Bible which was referenced in the book of the title of this post authored by Peter Matthiessen.
I was struck by the contrast of orange against a field of green. This was almost a year into my time in India so I was not surprised that the woman was wearing a beautiful sari while she worked. Bright, colorful saris are the norm for women in India.
