From a beach on the island of Samar in the Philippines we could see this little fishing village glowing in the setting sun. I would love to have had the opportunity to sit in a boat for a few hours while the fishermen engaged in their craft. I have long loved to fish but, for me, it’s a day here a week there, a few hours sitting comfortably on the pier overlooking a lake whiling away the hours relaxing completely. For me, fishing is a leisure time activity. For the people in this village it’s a lifestyle, it’s subsistence, it’s literally a matter of life and death.
