Rangoli – Sand Art



It seems that every auspicious occasion in India called for the construction of a rangoli. This folk art comes in the form of white designs only or, as in this case, as elaborately colored finery. I watched women at Meenakshi temple in Madurai create one of the images. This one was outside the doorway at my society (apartment complex) where the local festivals were celebrated.
