The Chicago River flows through the heart of the city. From some vantage points, it seems a bit like Venice. Bridges exist to allow cars to ‘easily’ navigate the frequently heavy traffic. These bridges also raise allowing cargo laden ships to enter from the great lake to the East and move on up the river an empty their holds at the final destination.
I was on a bike ride this overcast Fall day when I stopped to take this photo. Being on a bicycle makes it easy to take unplanned photos like this raised bridge.
