Buddhist Prayer

This woman was praying while facing the Boudanath Stupa in Kathmandu. Her ritual included this upright pose which moved into a prostrate pose on a wooden platform then back to a standing pose. The routine was repeated some multiplier of 108 times which is an important number in the Buddhist faith. The repetitions are counted on the mandala wrapped around her left hand. She was one of a number of individuals performing the ritual. They all appeared to be praying independently.
