People dressed similarly to this couple were a relatively common sight near where I lived in Pune, India. It almost always meant they were beggars asking for money. Part of their routine was to stand in front of someone and play their drum. I enjoyed the colorful clothing and face paint. Still, I never did offer money which would just go to reinforce the behavior. For me, the color clothing became like the stripe on a skunk or the bright stripes of a venomous snake, a warning to walk to the other side of the street.
