Khajuraho Temple in Western Group

Khajuraho is a group of temples in the Indian State of Madhya Pradesh dating back to around 1000 AD separated into three locations. The Western, Eastern, and Southern group. This picture is of the Chitragupta Temple. I had limited time so visited only the Western Group which had the most temples. I was so struck with the Western Group that I visited it twice.

The temple exteriors are covered in carvings of deities, people, animals, and geometric patterns. About 10% of the sculptures are erotic depicting scenes as can be found in the Kama Sutra. The remaining pictures in this series will focus on those sculptures.
