The Grand Prismatic Spring was a deep pool fed from heated waters oozing from beneath the earths crust. To look into the pool was to see the rainbow (pictures to come soon). Steam continually rose from the springs and geysers as the superheated water connected with the coolness of the air. When the wind blew in our direction, the vapors provided a warming for our chilled bodies. Raised walkways were required when visiting the geysers and springs to protect the fragile ecosystem from human feat and to protect humans from the very hot and some times acidic waters of the pools.
