Elephants are a revered animal throughout the Indian subcontinent. In the days of future past, they were a symbol of might, strength, wealth, and the inconquerability of the kings armies. These majestic beasts have obviously been worn and reworked, gotten sick then healed by hands less skilled than the original artisans. These were but two of the many elephant statues throughout Kathmandu.
How many kings and queens, dignitaries and common folk have ascended these steps guarded by these elephants? Did they notice you or take you for granted? Did they see the beauty unleashed by loving hands from unformed rock?
