Nepali Child

While people watching in Bhaktapur Durbar Square from one of the monuments, I noticed a little girl and her mother sitting fairly close to me. I love interacting with little children. Their innocence is refreshing in an adult world that has been jaded by challenging life experiences. With some encouragement from the mother, the child shook my hand but, try as I did, I was not able to get her to smile. Even when I took her picture then showed it to her, the determined look never left her face. I learned through a translator, the mother did not speak English, that the adorable little girl just turned 1.5 years old.
