I went home to Chicago on a business trip at the end of March. The frigid Winter weather was just starting to loose it’s grip. There were two days which were deemed comfortable, well, deemed comfortable by Chicagoans used to long and bitter winters. This Sunday was one of those days. The thermometer hit 55 F (12C) under sunny skies so people were frolicking about in shorts and t-shirts.
Still accustomed to the warmth of India, I wore a light jacket and pashmina scarf as Irene and I took her dog for a walk around Humboldt Park in Chicago late in the day. The ice had recently broke freeing up expanses of water near the shore along with the carcases of a few quite large fish. The birds seemed to be relishing in the open water, gentle breeze, and fish on which to feast.
