Damaged God

The middle section of this ancient icon found in a cave temple in Madurai has been destroyed. The destruction was not the inevitable result of weather over the centuries for this icon was protected from the element is a cave. It was another reason that seems more and more inevitable as our society loses it’s tolerance for others. Another faith system, viewing this as blasphemous, took it upon themselves to make a faith stand. Thankfully, the icon was made of granite so was difficult to destroy completely. This foolishness makes me fret for the future of mankind. It is not necessary that we believe other belief systems to show respect for those who do.
