Sacred Doorways

Sacred Spaces

Can you imagine living in a home with gorgeous paintings such as this one over a doorway at the Hagia Sophia? It’s a beautiful picture, a head turner. It has been magnificently restored to a luster that simply causes one to look at it with jaw dropping amazement. The Hagia Sophia has many such paintings throughout the building the result of a restoration process that was required to remove the over painting when the building changed from Christian to Muslim hands.

I wonder, would we be more aware of the sacred if our homes were adorned with beautiful religious art?
