Maggotty Jerk

The second big ride was truly epic, at least it was epic for me. We left the Big House on the North side of Jamaica and headed to Jake’s Place on the south side of the Island. The entire ride covered 66 miles over 10 hours. The most challenging section was a one hour uphill climb after which we descended into the little town of Maggotty.

At Maggotty Jerk restaurant, a local bistro with authentic Jamaican food, we had our fill of spicy hot jerk chicken and rice. It may have been the fact that we were very hungry or it may just have been truly, amazingly delicious food. While here we also stocked up on fluids to fuel us on this hot day. The US dollar was worth approximately 80 Jamaican dollars so the entire cost of the meal was almost nothing. We gave the proprietor a nice tip in thanks for the wonderful meal.
