Turquoise Waters

Jamaican Beach

Jamaican Beach

In January 2010, I met up with an old High School buddy and bicycle shop owner, Greg Nesypor, and some of his friends for an epic biking trip to Jamaica. This was my first ever vacation to a warm place during the brutal Chicago winters. Our first long ride was from the big house, our sleeping quarters, down to the beach. It lasted just over four hours (four hours of punishing climbs and rollicking descents and a meeting with Usain Bolt’s auntie). I was in decent shape, so I thought, but still felt like collapsing by the time we arrived. And collapse I did right into the gorgeous turquoise waters. I just laid in the water feeling the lapping of the gentle water soothe my aching muscles until I was cool, comfortable, serene. It’s a great memory to share on my birthday.
