The Sitting Wat Pho Buddha

Wat Pho Sitting Buddha

Wat Pho Sitting Buddha

Away from the hustle and bustle of the crowd in the Wat Pho temple complex there is another Buddha icon. This one in the slender India tradition sitting in the cross legged, meditation position.  Though not as outwardly spectacular as the reclining Buddha, I felt a stronger connection with this icon. Most likely it was because I could sit and observe in silence, sit and observe without the multitudes obstructing my interaction with the jostling of bodies or elevated voices shattering the silence. This shrine was serene, calming. Sitting there gazing at the icon, my soul was able to achieve a state of serenity not possible at the bustling reclining Buddha.
