Hall of Buddhas

Hall of Buddhas

Hall of Buddhas

Wat Pho is home to many icons of the Buddha. To my surprise, the only versions I can recall seeing are the slender Indian version of the Buddha as compared to the chubby Chinese version. My preference is to see Buddha in his slender manifestation. It seems more real as he was an ascetic, not a person I can see as succumbing to gluttony which would render him fat. The hall had two rows of Buddha forms which were supposed to represent the various standing Buddha icon versions found the world over. I would love to have one of these adorning my home. Instead, I brought home a small version of the reclining Buddha which I have wrapped with a set of mala beads (Buddhist prayer beads).
