Calcio Cathedral

San Siro, Milano, Italy

There are cathedrals then there are cathedrals. This cathedral is in Milano, Italy. It is built to honor the two big football teams in Milan. Inter Milan, known as Inter, the blue/black, who played and won on this one and only day I graced these grounds. The other is AC Milan, known as Milan whose vestments are the red/black stripes.

For years I had longed to attend a match in one of the hallowed grounds of football in England or Germany or Spain or Italy. On this day, that dream was realized. However, due to a lack of a passport in hand, I was almost denied entrance to the sanctuary. A bit of pleading on my part with the ticket vendor saw the prized paper come my way. It was a day I will never forget.
